About the Role

Position: Research Intern
Location: Paris
Duration: 6 months (starting from Q2)

As a Research Intern, you will have the opportunity to improve biomedical research using state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. Working with an interdisciplinary team combining expertise in machine learning and biology, you will develop and evaluate foundation models.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to strategies for aligning foundation models across various biological modalities, including genomics, proteomics, single-cell omics, and histopathology.
  • Conduct methodological research on the pre-training and alignment of biological foundation models.
  • Evaluate multimodal biological foundation models and analyze their performance on downstream tasks.

About You

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in a Computer Science-related field (machine learning, applied mathematics, computer science, software engineering).
  • Legally authorized to work in France.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Expertise in Python programming and adherence to coding best practices.
  • Passionate about the intersection of healthcare/biology and AI.
  • Strong expertise with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Jax) and experience implementing large neural networks.

Preferred Qualifications/Bonus Skills:

  • Practical expertise in representation learning, large language models, or generative AI, with prior experience in implementing, training, and/or deploying large neural networks.
  • Experience contributing to scientific publications at top ML conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML) or high-impact journals (JMLR, TMLR).
  • Prior experience working with biological data.
