Tech Stack

Location

The role is based in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Palo Alto). Candidates are expected to be located near the Bay Area or open to relocation.

Focus

• Identifying safety shortcomings in Grok.
• Adapting existing or designing new evaluations to automatically assess various potential risks.
• Rapidly implementing methods from ML safety literature to improve the safety of Grok.
• Working with other teams to ensure safety measures are implemented in various parts of the development pipeline.
• Innovating new ideas that bring us closer to our goal: Developing AI systems that can accurately understand the universe and create new knowledge.

Ideal Experiences

• Experience working on ML safety problems and demonstrated exceptional work.
• Expertise in ML and fine-tuning large language models.
• Experience developing and managing large-scale machine learning systems.
• Keeping up with multiple ML safety domains.

Interview Process

1. Application Review: Team reviews CV and statement of exceptional work.
2. Phone Interview: A 15-minute interview with basic questions.
3. Technical Interviews:
   • Coding assessment (language of your choice).
   • Post-training Technical Session (engineering and tooling problem-solving).
   • Safety Technical Session (formulating and solving safety problems).
   • Meet the Team: Present past exceptional work and vision.

Goal: Complete the main process within one week. All interviews via Google Meet.

Annual Salary Range

$180,000 - $440,000 USD
